Weekend Review: Part 1/3

Good afternoon, friends. :)

I had such a packed weekend that I'm going to write a three-parter (Parts 2 and 3)! Don't know when I've ever had that much to say...

Let's start off with Friday night and my first time eating at a Vietnamese restaurant.

This past weekend was the second Palmetto Bloggers meetup. I slowly made my way down to Charleston, stopping Friday night in Columbia to see my mom and brother. Bro convinced us to jump out of our comfort zone and try a Vietnamese place, Pho Viet, on Decker (if you know Columbia, Decker's not usually where you'd want to go, especially after dark).

I'm sometimes reluctant to try new things but I managed to order things I'd never heard of and it all worked out. I ordered a Thai iced tea (tea that's sweet & creamy!) and I think it was also bubble tea-ish. This picture is after I stirred; it was much prettier before that. The creamy part floats above the tea. The bottom has these little gummy jelly bubbles that run up the very large straw. It's very different from anything you find in an American restaurant!

Mom and I rounded out our night with some Masterpiece Theater. We've been watching different shows from Masterpiece Theater since I was a wee little thing! This time we started Upstairs Downstairs. If you're into Downton Abbey, chances are you'll like this, too!

Upstairs Downstairs
Upstairs, Downstairs is a revival of a hugely popular series of the same name that was broadcast in the 1970's. Everyone's pretty and witty and dramatic. It's perfect. There are only two seasons and a total of nine episodes. It's a great show for marathoning in a weekend!

Coming soon: the Palmetto Bloggers meetup and pictures of all the fabulous food I found in Charleston!

I've heard that Pho Viet is really yummy, but never have a reason to go out to Decker.
